MIDDLE SCHOOL

Students of a middle school age are continuing on the learning path of their chosen field. Those middle school students who are just beginning are treated with repect that they are no longer in elementary age and are given beginning material that is designed for the growing child.

Students who are continuing their development are allowed to give input into pieces that they would like to learn as a supplement to their normal lesson material. By this age, students should be performing multiple times during the year during monthly recitals and semester-end recitals as well as auditioning for the annual Showcase Concert.

For the voice student, they are introduced to a wider range of material and harder sightreading and vocalises. Musical Theater is added in earnest to the lessons and students are encouraged to augment their voice lessons with private or class drama lessons. Students are prepared for auditions in the community as well as All-State and Solo/Ensemble for school.

For the developing instrumentalist, the lessons continue to develop technique and a wider range of material is prepared and performed. Students are encouraged to perform in ensembles in the studio as well as perform with the Sanford-Seminole Community Band. These ensemble opportunites allow students to work alongside others who have been playing for many years. Again, all students are prepared for All-County and All-State auditions as well as Solo/Ensemble festival for school and other auditions around the area.

All private lessons are available to the middle school student including but not limited to piano,
musical theater, brass, percussion and strings.
